False leadership after a sector bounce
Early sector bounces reorder rankings quickly. Distinguishing repair from durable leadership takes a slower second pass.
After a beaten-down sector lifts off the floor, relative strength tables rearrange within days. Clinic participants often arrive excited by the new order. Excitement is allowed; permanence is not assumed.
What the first bounce often shows
The first bounce frequently rewards the most oversold names, not the strongest franchises. Their ratios leap because the denominator was crushed and the numerator stopped falling. That is arithmetic, not a completed leadership cycle.
A slower second pass
Wait for a second comparison after the sector has held a higher low on the absolute chart. Rebuild the ranking. Names that remain high after the easy rebound deserve a different label than names that faded once the bounce matured.
Language we encourage
Say “early rebound leadership” or “repair ranking” until evidence widens. Save “durable leadership” for when multiple lookbacks and a fair benchmark still agree.
